About the Artist
With no formal art training, Leonetto Cappiello (1875-1942) began his career as a caricaturist, illustrating for publications such as La Baionnette, Le cri de Paris and Le Sourire. Cappiello was first commissioned as a poster artist in 1900 and over the course of his life produced more than 500 advertisements. He is frequently referred to as ‘the father of modern advertising’ due to his unique, colorful and eye catching designs.

About the Artist
John Olsen (1928- ) is an Australian painter well known for interpreting the landscape of his home country. Olsen studied at both the Dattilo Rubbo Art School and the Julian Ashton School before heading to England and Spain to learn the art of printmaking. Rejecting critics’ claims that his work is abstract, Olsen describes his art as, “an exploration of the totality of landscape.”
